A Lot Of Mosquitoes Outside Your Home? 2 Tips To Control Them

Posted on

If you are seeing a lot of mosquitoes when you go outside your home this can be a problem for you and your family. Not only can they bite you and leave behind itchy bites, but some mosquitoes also carry diseases. Fortunately, there are things you can do to control them, two of which are listed below.

Contact a Pest Control Company

One of the best ways to control mosquitoes in your yard is to contact a pest control company. They will first inspect your property to determine what type(s) of mosquitoes are in your yard. Once they do this, they will then put together a treatment plan to take care of your problem.

They use liquid sprays, which are also known as adulticides, and spray in common areas where adult mosquitoes are found. If a mosquito lands on the spray it will ingest it and then die. They will spray special insecticides to all vegetation that mosquitoes can use for shelter while they are resting.

The pest control company may set up mosquito traps and sit them around your yard if you have a lot of them. These traps have poison inside of them and the smell attracts mosquitoes to them.  The pest control company may come back more than once to treat your yard for mosquitoes.

Things You Can Do

There are many things you can do on your own. First, mosquitoes love standing water, so if you have anything like this, remove it. There may be areas in your yard that collect water after it rains. This could be a bucket you have sitting outside or any kind of container. Make sure your gutters stay cleared out because this is another area where water can build up if there are clogs in the gutters. If you have low areas in your yard that collect water fill them in to level them out.

Make sure you keep windows closed in your home to prevent mosquitoes from flying in. If you open windows, make sure the screens are intact and have no damage to them, such as small holes.  If you notice any gaps in screens, doors, windows, etc. patch these up. If you have space around your doors purchase a door strip.

The pest control company that you hire can give you many more tips on controlling mosquitoes in your yard, and how to prevent you from getting bit by these pesky insects. Contact mosquito control in your area for more information.
